Chapter 1017 - 1016: You’re Dreaming of a Free Lunch

Chapter 1017 - 1016: You’re Dreaming of a Free Lunch

Little Gu’s face was a bit warm, as she recalled certain memories. Now, seeing Lu Heng come over, her face immediately darkened: "Your hand is okay now?"

"It’s not a big problem, but I probably can’t experiment for a while." He stared at her: "How do we account for this loss?"

"Blame me, then." Gu Anxi glanced at him, her gaze somewhat disdainful.

Lu Heng sat on the single sofa next to her, looked around, and frowned: "Where is this place?"

Gu Anxi hummed lightly: "The place where my romance with Little Uncle began."

Lu Heng looked around again: "He pursued you?"

"I pursued him." Gu Anxi said honestly.

Lu Heng was a bit skeptical, "Would a young girl like you actively pursue a man? I thought you didn’t need a man."

Gu Anxi took out her phone to play, and said casually: "Actually, there are many kinds of men, my Little Uncle is the kind that makes me overwhelmed with passion, while seniors like you make me overwhelmed with ambition."

Lu Heng was taken aback by her straightforward words, and after a while said with some discomfort: "Is there really such a big difference?"

Not wanting to talk to him, her delivery arrived at that moment, and she went to get it.

Seeing that she only had one portion in her hand, Lu Heng said dissatisfied: "What will I eat?"

"I paid the medical bill; I didn’t agree to treat you to a meal. Besides, you followed me to Qingcheng yourself," Gu Anxi said and ignored him, opening her food box to eat. It was a wooden box, and when her Little Uncle wasn’t around when she used to live here, she would order from this place; it tasted quite nice.

After a few bites, she remembered that her Little Uncle mentioned he would come over later, so he must not have eaten. She immediately ordered another meal on her phone.

Lu Heng, seeing her place an order, thought she softened and waited for his food.

But half an hour later, when the food arrived, she placed it on the other side, guarding it carefully. Lu Heng pursed his lips: "Isn’t it for me?"

"Oh, my Little Uncle will come over later, it’s for him." As soon as Gu Anxi mentioned Bo Xichen, her voice got a little soft, making Lu Heng feel uncomfortable, especially since they were alone here, and she was such a delicate and soft girl.

So, impulsively, as Gu Anxi bent down to grab a tissue, he wrapped one hand around her waist from behind.

Gu Anxi paused momentarily, then directly grabbed his injured wrist, twisted it backward, and Lu Heng cursed and fell on the sofa, thus learning what real violence was.

Punching and kicking.

Yet not seriously injuring him, and certainly not hitting his face. Finally, Gu Anxi kicked him hard several times: "Comfortable?"

Lu Heng leaned against the sofa back, panting: "If my hand wasn’t injured..."

"You wouldn’t be a match for me," Gu Anxi clapped her hands and continued eating.

Lu Heng was truly miserable, clenching his uninjured hand into a fist, gritting his teeth: "Are you this violent with Bo Xichen?"

"Of course not." Gu Anxi finished a whole lunchbox, touched her small belly, and sighed contently: "I am Bo Xichen’s little baby."

Lu Heng felt somewhat uncomfortable.

Gu Anxi tidied up the table and looked at Lu Heng: "Aren’t you leaving yet?"

Lu Heng frowned: "Where should I go?"

"That’s not my concern." Gu Anxi smiled mischievously: "Do you want my Little Uncle to see you followed me to Qingcheng?"

Lu Heng’s expression soured; after a long pause, he spoke hoarsely: "He may not be your only choice."

Gu Anxi couldn’t be bothered to waste words with him, stretching her long legs on the coffee table, pulling out her phone to play a game, quickly becoming engrossed and ignoring him. Lu Heng clenched his fists, "We can talk about the equipment thing."

"Five billion, not a penny less. I was considering a million discount before, but I’m in a bad mood now." Gu Anxi spoke without looking up.

Lu Heng was incensed and slammed the door as he left.

Just a little girl, Lu Heng couldn’t find another one?

Lu Heng went to the best entertainment venue in Qingcheng, coincidentally Imperial Color, and found the prettiest and simplest girl to accompany him, who was very proactive, but after a few minutes, he found her annoying and pushed her away: "No need for you to accompany me, get out."

The girl was about to cry, standing there trembling: "The manager won’t be happy."

Lu Heng signed a large check for her, telling her to leave immediately. The girl glanced at the amount, whispered a thank-you, and left.

After she left, Lu Heng felt troubled, called the manager, asked if there was a takeaway place they could call from, and described the takeaway box’s appearance. After the manager asked around for half a day, he finally managed to order it for him.

Thus that night, Lu Heng spent hundreds of thousands on a takeaway.

As soon as he left the experimental building, Gu Anxi put away her phone and walked out; she went to see Shen Wanqing’s mother, Chen Jinfeng, who was surprised to see her: "Anxi, why are you here?"

Gu Anxi helped her sit down: "I just happened to be back in Qingcheng for some matters, thought I’d drop by."

She asked the little nurse about the situation, and the nurse smiled: "Doctor Gu can rest assured; the patient’s body is recovering well, and Mrs. Gu has been coming every day; she should be able to leave the hospital in a few days."

Gu Anxi nodded, sat by the bedside, took an apple to peel for Aunt Chen, slicing it into six perfect pieces. She then took a whole fruit, washed it, and bit into it.

Shen’s mother smiled bitterly: "It’s hard for you to make this trip; if you’re not feeling well, don’t run around."

"Much better now." Gu Anxi said nonchalantly, pausing before continuing: "Mingzhu got married; I came back to see."

After she spoke, Shen’s mother seemed a bit dazed, and after a while, softly said: "It must be Siyuan’s wedding."

Gu Anxi responded with a hum, "Yes."

Shen’s mother quietly leaned against the bedhead, speaking hoarsely: "Before, I thought you would end up with Young Master Siyuan. Then after you disappeared, I confusingly believed Wanqing might have this fortune, but I didn’t expect her to turn out this way, Anxi, I’m sorry for you."

"Don’t say that; it’s not anyone’s fault," Gu Anxi smiled: "It just wasn’t meant to be."

Shen’s mother spoke with difficulty: "It’s a good thing for Professor Bo."

As she said this, she felt a little sad again.

Gu Anxi found Bo Xichen, but her daughter had taken a path of no return, lingering between wealthy men. Originally, there was a chance to turn back, but now tangled with the wife’s brother, making her too ashamed to face anyone; the wife said after she got better, she’d stay with the Gu family and return to Beicheng with them, but how could she face that?

She didn’t speak, just planned to sneak away quietly upon discharge, to avoid dragging down the wife.

Thinking about it, she felt both sad and reluctant, looking at Gu Anxi for a long time.

This child was truly good.
