Chapter 1094 1094: Titled Scales
Chapter 1094 1094: Titled Scales
"GREY!"
"Ugh…." Grey collapsed to his knees in pain as blood poured from his mouth while everybody rushed towards him.
All his allies reached him at the same time with Scarlet skidding on her knees before the warrior mage could collapse head first into the ground.
The Supreme Magus was bloodied and terribly injured.
Two horn-like punctures on his temples, a deep gash to his side, a gaping hole in his abdomen, another hole in his leg.
He was in such a terrible state that no normal human would have been able to survive it.
Luckily, he wasn't a normal human.
He was the Supreme Magus.
"Grey… you…"
Lifting his head to look at the shadows cast over him, he smiled gently.
"I won… Gustav is dead."
The common forces when they heard the verdict, screams of joy rippled across the terrain as they all jumped and danced.
Breaths of relief were heard from the elite forces as they could allow themselves to relax in the form of collapsing to their knees around the warrior mage.
The adrenaline that was driving them was gone.
Grimacing in pain, Grey pushed himself to his feet.
"Wh-Wh-Where is Zodiac one?" Grey asked as he tensed up ready to continue the fight when Scarlet stepped forward and held his hand.
Then she yelped loudly.
The Supreme Magus looked at her with a worried look.
"What happened?"
"Yo-You-You are incredibly hot to touch. What happened to you?"
Kael lifted a brow and reached to touch the warrior mage and when he did, his eyes widened in pain.
"No. This can't be a fever. You are so hot that for a moment, I'm doubting if I touched a human or a volcano."
"What happened to you?" Charlotte asked with a worried tone.
But Grey couldn't give a reply as his eyes were still scanning the place.
"Zodiac one… where is he?"
"He's dead, Grey. We killed him."
Hearing the voice, his head snapped in the direction of the speaker to see it was Vince.
Lightning was about to fizzle around his body when Scarlet stepped directly in front of him.
"Vince never betrayed us. He had joined the Otherworlders to seek a way to take them down. In fact, it was with his help and knowledge that we took the Zodiac one. Without him, we would have all died."
Grey turned to look at the young woman for a moment before shaking his head.
"I know he can't betray us. But I really want to punch him in the face for calling you a 'wench.'"
Scarlet smiled.
"Trust me. I already did." She said as she turned to look at Vince who was rubbing his sore nose where the young woman had punched an hour ago.
Max stepped forward.
"Now will you tell us what ha—"
Grey's eyes stretched wide as they landed on a pulsating core in the ground.
The moment he laid eyes on it, memories crashed into his mind as his body shuddered at the mere thought of what he went through when he touched something like that.
"Ho-Ho… Did anybody touch that?"
Lifting brows of confusion, they all turned towards the core he was pointing at.
Alba shook her head.
"No. After killing the zodiac, his body turned to ash and in his place was that core."
'So he was also a GodSlayer.'
"Do you know what it is?" Killian asked with a raised brow.
Grey nodded for a moment then began narrating his tale on the battle with Gustav.
The words he spoke and most especially people with strength and power on par with the celestials without being one themselves.
How they were called 'Godslayers' and they could come from any race.
Humans, demons, mermaids, goblins… anybody could be termed a GodSlayer.
And when a GodSlayer causes too much damage and catches the eyes of a celestial, then all eyes will be on them and if he becomes too strong, they would do everything in their power to hunt the GodSlayer down.
"To restore… uh what was it called again?"
"Balance?" Vince chimed in and then Grey looked at him.
"Huh?"
"I heard of something like that from one of the Zodiacs. Everything in this universe follows an equal balance and proportion.
If something tilts too much to the other side, therefore disrupting the scale of balance, the universe will aim to correct it immediately and at most times, eliminating the cause of the instability."
Kael's brows knit.
"And let me guess. In this case, the Celestials took it upon themselves to carry out the universe's wish? Ah… this is a hassle."
"The core. What did it do to you?" Scarlet questioned with a raised brow.
Grey shook his head.
"I-I-I don't know. When I touched it, it reacted and the energy in it rushed into my body. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't push it back so I gave in. I thought I would die from it but here I am. I just feel giddy somewhat."
As he spoke, he staggered for a second.
"Elara! Heal him!" Scarlet ordered with a worried face.
The elven princess didn't take offence as she had been aiming to do so already.
"Let me help too." Raze added as he rushed forward and touched Vanica therefore copying her healing magic.
Then spreading his hands, an ethereal glow pulsated outward concentrating mostly on the Supreme Magus.
Elara controlled the vines in the area and poured her mana into them wrapping them all around the warrior mage therefore lifting him above as they began healing him, mending the holes in his body while Raze's magic concentrated on restoring warmth therefore making him regain his lost glow.
As they were doing so, Grey's mind was rushing as he knew something was up with him.
He could feel himself changing in a weird way that he couldn't describe.
It was like he was now part of a larger puzzle.
After he had absorbed the core which turned into fragments, he felt his body breaking and reforming at a more painful rate than any evolution he had ever had before in his life.
It was a hundred times worse that he almost lost his mind to it but the sheer determination of returning back kept him going.
Pushing. Refusing to give in to the pain, he managed to win against it and managed to escape the planet before it blew up to bits.
That was why he staggered out his portal as he was not only disoriented from what he had gone through, but from the shockwave that hit him from the destruction of the planet.
Slowly, Elara controlled the vines setting the warrior mage down but due to disorientation, he wobbled on his feet with Scarlet rushing to catch him before he could strike the ground.
She held him around his waist before helping him slowly rise to his full height.
The two looked deeply into each other's eyes as the sun could now be seen disappearing in the horizon signalling that it was now evening.
"Happy birthday, Grey." Scarlet smiled with tears falling down her face.
"Thank you." Grey smiled and he leaned forward with the two of them locking lips.
Raze placed his fingers into his mouth and then whistled loudly.
"Will you look at that? What a happy ending…"
A bright light descended from above with fierce intensity illuminating the space for a second with Grey and Scarlet disengaging with everybody standing on guard ready for what would come out of the light.
The light dimmed down to reveal a man standing in a pristine white robes with his long white hair tied into a ponytail.
Grey's jaws tightened the moment he saw the man.
"Mage Blake…. Or should I call you, Celestial Blake?"
Blake's face softened as he looked at the warrior mage then his eyes scanned the place before landing on the dead bodies, his allies and then the core in the ground.
Stretching his hand, the core flew his way and then vanished from view.
Looking back at Grey, the mage shook his head.
"I tried my best. I'm sorry for all you had to go through. It was all for the sake of the universe and for the Otherworlders to be gone."
"What I went through? Or what you engineered me through?!" Grey shouted in anger as sparks began crackling around him.
"You could have saved my mum that day but you chose to save only Jesse? So many outcomes could have been avoided. You put a damn seal on my memories to keep me on Vayun. Away from my friends and family!"
"And you gained new allies in the process. Without them, did you think you would have won this war?" Blake questioned with a slight frown.
"Oh please. Don't bullshit me. I could have still gained allies if I had my memories."
"Would you have learnt ki if you had your memories? Or do you want to deny how helpful learning ki has been for you?" Blake questioned with a raised brow.
Nobody could interrupt as they calmly listened to the exchange between the two.
"I knew you Grey. You are one stubborn kid. If you had all your memories, you wouldn't have seen the need to learn ki since you are the 'Supreme Magus' with five affinities. What could a measly 'Ki' do for you?"
"I almost died learning it! No mage can learn ki because the mana would attack the foreign energy therefore killing the mage in the process."
"Yet here you are. You didn't die and instead made history so what's the problem?!"
"The problem here is that you manipulated me! That day when you summoned me, you saw who I was, right? You knew I was Gustav's kid, right?
So you unlocked the seal he placed on me so you could use me to defeat him and all the Otherworlders! You played with my feelings and life!" Grey roared as the earth all around the town was trembling and moving, resonating with his rage.
"..."
Blake didn't reply immediately as he lifted his gaze to the sky then shook his head.
"I'm sorry, Grey. I tried my best to shield you but they have already taken notice."
Before anybody could ask anymore questions, bright lights the same as before began descending from the heavens smashing into the ground surrounding everybody gathered there.
Grey tensed up immediately as he glared at Blake who was shaking his head in regret.
Soon, the light vanished and its place were hundreds of people… strange creatures that looked humanoid enough for Grey to know they possessed intelligence but didn't know how he was supposed to describe them.
"Beasts?" Greg questioned with a tense tone in his voice.
All of them didn't have any more energy to fight hence they could barely do anything as the figures surrounded them.
"No," Grey whispered back. "More Celestials…"
"How can you tell?" Kael whispered with a raised brow when he suddenly closed his eyes for a second before widening them back open as he looked between Grey and the Celestials.
"You…"
"Grey Dawn," one of the strange creatures…celestials who had an elephant trunk swaying left and right like a dog's tail began.
"You are an anomaly that needs to be corrected. You have been allowed to do as you please for years now if it meant the Otherworlders perished but now, the scales of balance have tilted. And it needs to be corrected."
